Proper

As I get older I divide myself

into comfortable parts

and not

the world does too

once I danced naked in the garden

my bare belly warmed by the sun

arms flung out wide, wheeling,

my hair tickling my back

now I expose just parts

of myself

my chest

my thighs

with feelings of trepidation

and the knowledge that this

pale rounded flesh

once sun browned

scratched and skinned

now carefully accounted for

properly kept up and managed

has power

and consequences
